Bahá’í consultation is a spiritual and practical method of non-adversarial collective decision-making, truth-seeking, and social action. [4] [5] Bahá’u’lláh describes consultation as the “lamp of guidance” that “bestoweth greater awareness and transmuteth conjecture into certitude”, [6] [7] as well as the “operating expression of justice in human affairs”. Unlike traditional debate, partisan negotiation, or political bargaining, Bahá’í consultation seeks to transcend individual egos, eliminate factionalism, and discover shared truth through unity. [5]
